Greenwoods Dental Centre in Prince Rupert is a proud provider under the Government of Canada’s NIHB program. If you’re eligible, many of your dental services can be covered — with no out-of-pocket costs at the time of service.
What Is NIHB?
The Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program provides coverage for eligible First Nations and Inuit clients for a set range of medical, dental, and vision services. It’s administered by Indigenous Services Canada and is designed to fill gaps not covered by provincial or private plans.
- Registered First Nations with a valid Status Card
- Inuit Beneficiaries recognized by an Inuit land claim organization.
- Children under one year old with an eligible parent (NIHB client)
- Routine cleanings, standard exams, and X-rays
- Composite fillings and surgical extractions
- Standard root canal treatments (excluding wisdom teeth)
- 1Complete and acrylic partial dentures
- 1Porcelain/ceramic crowns (when meeting structural criteria)
- 1Orthodontic services (braces) for clients under the age of 18
- ` 1 ` Note: Complex treatments require Prior Approval (Predetermination).
